Modavox, Inc. wanted to build an Internet Radio Solution to provide sponsors, advertisers and hosts with highly scalable and affordable access to niche communities worldwide.


Our team of solution engineers collaborated with the Modavox team to define the requirements of the system to be developed with the objective of making it easy for hosts to host their own internet talk radio show. BoomBox not only provides the technology to host internet radio shows but gives a complete package of internet streaming media broadcasting, proven support services in web, marketing and interactive solutions.

The BoomBox video player is a video and advertising management and delivery software. The system allows the administrator to create networks and then multiple channels or theaters within a network can be created. For each network, a container is created and then media files uploaded within each of the containers through the admin user interface. A custom skin can be developed for each channel using a standard html editor and application related data like playlists and videos can be embedded into the html making the system very flexible in terms of the GUI. Content for one channel can be shared across other channels within the same network.

Windows media playlists files are dynamically created by our application which can then be embedded on any website.  A unique URL is generated for each media file which the network or channel can embed on their news websites corresponding to each news item.  The media files are hosted on multimedia optimized servers.  The application that we developed created the binary stream of the media file and passes that as a parameter to a 3rd party FTP application which then transfers the file from the application server to the multimedia server.

The video delivery is skinned and can be customized for each network (channel).  Videos can be in multiple media formats.  The output is controlled by a Content Management System which allows hosts to create networks, create skinned theatres for video delivery and manage videos, advertisements and playlists.

The system was developed leveraging Microsoft's ASP.Net framework and SQL Server dB. Scripting technologies like JavaScript and Flash were used to enhance the user experience.


Modavox’s Internet Radio Division is focused on continuing leadership in Internet Radio with innovative software development and complete management of Internet Radio platforms for its customers, hosts, and niche communities worldwide.  Our Internet Radio solution, that include music, talk, and corporate communication of all types, has become the preferred medium for the transmission of audio content over networks for Modavox’s existing and new client base.
